Early Times Report
Vijaypur, Nov 19: The work of widening of Vijaypur-Ramgharh road has been left midway in Samba District despite lapse of more than one year putting locals residents are in great inconvenience.
Sources informed that the work of double lanning of Vijaypur - Ramgharh road was started last year by the Public Work Department which was inaugurated by the Member of Parliament from Jammu-Poonch Lok Sabha constituency and Senior BJP leader Jugal Kishore Sharma with much fanfare.
"The work road, which has 15 kilometres of length was sanctioned under Central Road Fund (CRF) at the cost of Rs 18 crore last year but the work could not be completed due to reasons well known to the department. Only 7-8 kms stretch was completed while the rest of the part was left incomplete. The incomplete part has been laid with concrete which has been creating huge inconvenience to the local public due to absence of blacktopping on it, who commute only daily basis," said Ashok Sharma, Sunny Sharma, Ajay Sharam, Parveen Sharma, Avinash Choudhary Social Activists, who are residents of the adjoining areas along this road.
Yash Pal Sharma NPP leader, Preethpal Singh, Satwinder Singh said that the road was constructed at some points in this stretch including Vijaypur to Chak Salarian and Bandral to Ramgarh that too after lodging protest by the people and rest of the part was left without blacktopping. They said that when they contacted the local administration and the concerned department regarding this issue, they were told that due to non release of the payment to the contractor, the work had to be withheld. They appealed to the Lieutenant Governor Jammu and Kashmir to take note of the issue and urged that concerned department be directed to complete the work.
