Secy RDD stresses on providing quality training to youth

JAMMU, Nov 19: The performance under Himayat Mission was reviewed by Secretary Rural Development and Panchayat Raj here in series of marathon meetings.
Himayat is a placement linked skill training programme for unemployed youth of Jammu and Kashmir and is being implemented by the Himayat Mission Management Unit, J&K State Rural Livelihoods Mission (JKSRLM), Govt of J&K.
Youth are provided free skill training for a duration of 3 to 12 months, in a range of skills with the provision to provide placement of the trained candidate.
Himayat Mission Management Unit (HMMU) has sanctioned 42 projects wherein 37 Project Implementing Agencies (PIAs) are assigned skill training and placement target of 68134 youths of Jammu and Kashmir. The meeting was attended by Chief Operating Officer, Himayat Mission Management Unit, (JKSRLM), Kapil Sharma and officials of HMMU, NABARD Consultancy Services (NABCONS), NIRDPR also participated to review the progress of PIAs.
The progress under the projects was reviewed by Secretary RDD PR with regard to the trained and placed numbers that achieved and the strategy devised to achieve the future proposed target. The different facets of the project were deliberated & action plan for each of the Project Implementing Agencies were worked for achieving the targets. The Secretary asked to focus on the challenges and issues the project entails & stressed on providing quality training & exploring maximum employment opportunities for the targeted group.
She instructed for conducting workshop for the new entrants so as to sensitise the project members about the Standard operating procedures of the scheme besides arranging sessions for experience sharing & best practices of the Agencies amongst themselves for better outcomes as envisaged in the scheme.
