Jammu, Nov 19: It may sound strange but true that a few doctors of the Government Medical College and Hospital and associated hospitals are getting salary without official work even they visit the institute irregular and this practice has been running under the nose of the Health and Medical Education Department thus causing huge loss to the state exchequer.
Official sources told that a number of doctors, who are working in the GMC&H Jammu on different posts are close to power corridor hence they do not need to do any official work for the last many years. "Instead of doing their assigned duties, for that they are getting a huge amount, they are working as touts and come in the hospitals for the only gossip, "sources added.
Sources further claimed that they having a strong political link and do not ready to leave the choicest hospital in the heart of the city. Even they are leaving no stone unturned to appease the influential persons by going out of that way just to make good relation among them.
"Many times, complaints were registered before the Head of the H&ME Department for looking up the matter to streamline the functioning of the above said hospital but no effort was made to do for reasons best known to them, "sources added, adding that due to lack of interest of the concerned, they are drawing the salaries without facing any difficulty.
Sources emphasized that there is an urgent need to curb this practice which not only tantamount to financial irregularity but also a loss to the state exchequer, when such employees draw their salaries without practically doing any work. |
