Anger brewing in Jammu as no constitutional provision to protect job, land rights in new UT
11/20/2019 10:27:44 PM
Early Times Report
Jammu, Nov 20: Contrary to the repeated claims of BJP leaders, no constitutional arrangement has been made, so far, to project job and land rights of the residents of J&K. After abrogation of Article 370 on August 5 this year, all BJP leaders, from top to bottom, have been claiming that like neighbouring Himachal Pradesh, land and job rights of the locals of J&K would be protect but after formal implementation of J&K Re-organization Act nothing has been mentioned in this regard.
Due to betrayal of BJP, anger is brewing among among people of Jammu in particular where educated youth are already facing discrimination due to step-motherly treatment meted out to them by successive democratic elected governments.
Peoples are repeatedly cautioning Union Government against ignoring interests of local youth in jobs and employment and demanding that interests of local must be protected in new dispensation.
After Union Government's decision the state of J&K was formally converted into two Union Territories (UT) on October 31 and there were apprehensions among local educated youth that they would lose their rights on jobs.
Instead of removing such apprehensions authorities have further created mistrust and confusion by not making any constitutional provisions to ensure that locals have rights on jobs.
Instead of giving assurance to residents of J&K, local BJP leaders were indulged into taunting inhabitants of J&K with one way or other. Despite getting huge mandate of the people of Jammu region, local BJP leaders are not protecting interests of people.
Instead of taunting educated youth of Jammu in the name of competition, local BJP leaders should convince their central leaders to make constitutional provisions to protect interests of locals in land and job
