Union Minister reviews preparedness for roll out of intensified immunization campaign

JAMMU, Nov 21: Union Minister for Health & Family Welfare, Dr. Harsh Vardhan today held a review meeting via Video Conferencing with all the concerned States/Union Territories to discuss the preparatory status for the launch of Intensified Mission Indradhanush (IMI) 2.0.
The Video Conference was attended by Financial Commissioner, Health & Medical Education, J&K, Atal Dulloo, Mission Director National Health Mission, J&K, Bhupinder Kumar, Director Family Welfare, J&K, Dr. Arun Sharma, Assistant Director, Information Bureau Jammu, Director, Information & Broadcasting, Government of India and State Immunization Officer, Directorate of Family Welfare, MCH and Immunization J&K.
The IMI 2.0 is a special immunization drive to cover all children in the age group of 0-2 years. In Kashmir division, the campaign will be held in two aspirational districts of Baramulla and Kupwara.
The meeting was informed that all preparations for the successful implementation of IMI 2.0 have been completed. Around 926 children and 149 pregnant females have been identified after robust headcount survey in Kupwara which will be covered in 375 sessions by same number of teams consisting of ASHAs, Anganwari Workers and ANMs. The teams will vaccinate in hard-to-reach areas like Kalaroos, Tangdhar, Machil, Keran, Karnah etc.
In district Baramulla, 484 children, 102 pregnant females have been identified in 252 sessions by 252 teams consisting of ASHAs, Anganwari Workers and ANMs. The teams will vaccinate the children in far-flung areas like Uri, Sheeri, Kreeri etc. The vaccines have been already distributed to all the cold chain points.
It is pertinent to mention here that J&K is among the best performing States/UTs with 96% achievement in full Immunization coverage. The special immunization drive is expected to further improve the immunization coverage of J&K.
