Mufti family kin looks ahead to sell residential house
11/21/2019 10:48:55 PM
Early Times Report
Srinagar, Nov 21: A close relative of the former Chief Minister, late Mufti Muhammad Sayeed is likely to sell his residential house in Anantnag district of south Kashmir.
Sources said the man in question, who is also cousin of former Chief Minister and Peoples Democratic Party president Mehbooba Mufti has been approached by some property dealers in the last around two months.
"What we could feel from the activities at his residence is that he is no more interested to retain the family house but wants to sell it for some reasons better known to him," said a source in the know of the matter.
Sources said the man may "explore options of supporting politics in a new way."
It is pertinent to mention that the man in question had been having strained relations with the Mufti family for the past around a year more so, since the PDP-BJP alliance collapsed in the summer of 2018. Previously the two families had been enjoying cordial relations.
Soon after the collapse of the government, the strained relations were visible to the political pundits.
It is largely believed that the PDP used to enjoy considerable support of the relatives of Mufti Muhammad Sayeed from south as many of them had even joined the party and had been holding significant positions therein.
Soon after the collapse of her government, Mehbooba Mufti had witnessed rebellion from the party.
While some of the senior leaders including Imran Ansari and Javaid Mustafa had quit the party, to form a parallel alliance, Mehbooba had expelled Altaf Bukhari from the party.
Another senior leader Haseeb Drabu had publicly tendered his resignation from the PDP.
Thereafter Mehbooba had chaired many party meetings to convey to it her colleagues that mischief mongers would not be tolerated in the party.
Despite repeated attempts the man in question was not available for comments.
