District hospital Poonch faces shortage of specialist medicos

Poonch, Nov 22: On the front of healthcare people of Poonch are continuously facing the programme as district hospital is running short of specialist doctors in opthomology and dermatology sources said here today.
They said in the border belt people have to travel to travel 250 kms to Jammu for the treatment of ailments related to eyes and skin due to non availability of specialist medicos in dermology and opthomology departments in the district hospital, they added.
They said that other subdivisions including Surankote, Mendhar Mandi too have no specialist doctors which causes great inconnievence to the locals.
While talking to Medical Superintendent Dr Shamim Bhatti told Early Times that he admits that there were posts of specialist medicos vacant for the last three years. We have been intimating concerned authorities in this regard time to time yet nothing has been done so far, Dr Bhatti added.
Meanwhile chairman Mendhar Youth Club advocate Nadeem Khan has urged the LG, GC Murmu and Director Health services Jammu to fill up the vacancies in district hospital Poonch on priority basis as people have been suffering a lot as far as health care is concerned he added.
