Early Times Report

JAMMU, Nov 22: The continuous blockade of internet services and non-availability of proper Broadband facilities in twin Districts of Doda and Kishtwar In Chenab belt is hampering various developmental activities.
The activities including uploading of various estimates related to public works and welfare schemes in Rural Development Department can only be done through online secure software besides various other departments like Social Welfare, Health (Ayushmahan Bharat) and transfer of online funds like OTP and payments to job card holders and funds to beneficiaries of various government run schemes also required online feeding of data. As per the details available with Early Times, there is huge rush of employees at NIC centre Kishtwar as well as in Doda where the employees of RDD and other government departments who are required to feed online data were seen camping in these centres.
Speaking to Early Times, various employees said that the non-availability of internet has become major headache for them adding that even though they were camping at NIC centre- they fail to carry forward their routine works due to slow internet speed. They said that around 100 employees from various departments are using internet services at NIC centre in Kishtwar as a result of which the data transfer speed is very slow. "We work till late in the evening- even though we fail to complete the required works- the process is going on since last over three months when the internet services were snapped in J&K following abrogation of Article 370," said an employee wishing not to be named.
Another employee said that the BSNL exchange though sanctioned few internet broadband connections for RDD department- but same is not sufficient due to poor services adding that the BSNL exchange in Kishtwar lacks internet ports and hence didn't provide the fresh connections to them so that they could continue with the official work.
Similar views were echoed by many people including the businessmen who said that there is immediate need to restore internet services in Jammu Divison so that they can carry out their routine business activities without any hindrance.
