Jammu, Nov 30: Some unidentified persons believe to be the burglars have made an unsuccessful attempt to rob the Jammu and Kashmir Bank branch in Sigdi area of Chatroo Sub Divison in Kishtwar District.
As per the details available with Early Times, the burglars broke inside the J&K bank branch by breaking the windows from the backside of the building and later after failing in its attempt decamped with the 12 bore rifle of the a guard who kept it inside the branch after the bank was closed yesterday evening.
The official sources told the Early Times that the matter came to fore in the morning when the bank staff open the front door entry of the branch and accordingly brought the matter into the notice of senior officials who inform the police. After getting information about the bank robbery attempt by some unidentified persons, senior police officials immediately rush to the spot and started its investigation. During the course of preliminary investigation-no cash has been found missing from the branch other than the 12 bore rifle of the guard.
Police has registered an FIR and has started its further investigation. The senior police officials while confirming the incident said that it is premature to say who is behind this unsuccessful attempt to rob the bank added that police is probing the case on all possible angles. The senior officials also refuse to comment whether the incident has any connection with the militancy.
It is pertinent to mention that Kishtwar witnessed two major bank robberies one at main branch while other one at Sarthal-however police manage to crack the Kishtwar main branch robbery by arresting several culprits and also recovered some of the stolen cash while the other major bank robbery case is yet to be solved even after the lapse of more than three years.
