BJP weakened grass root democracy under garb of 'B2V' prog: Manohar
12/1/2019 9:38:06 PM
Early Times Report
JAMMU, Dec 1: Accusing the Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) of weakening grass roots democracy under the garb of the 'Back to Village (B2V)' programme, former minister and president District Congress Committee Kathua, Dr Manohar Lal Sharma said that the BJP is using government machinery to achieve political gains.
Sharma said that by using bureaucracy, the BJP is trying to fulfill its political motives as its own workers and ministers have failed miserably to fulfill the promises made to the general masses of the state.
He said Sarpanchs and Panchs had high hopes when the 'Back to Village' programme was started in June 2019.
Even to their surprise, issues raised during the event have not been addressed to date, and now, the government again conducted Phase-2 of the 'Back to Village' programme, but Sarpanchs, Panchs and even residents are asking what happened to the problems brought forth in June.
"Whatever projects were taken up during the first phase of the Back to Village programme have not been implemented at the grass-roots level and further asked when funds had not been released for various works announced in the first phase of "Back to Village", then what was the fun of conducting the second phase of the programme? He said the MGNREGA payments are still pending in crores in each blocks, people are waiting for their installments under Indira Awas Yojna and many more. He said the government has given a big hype to the 'Back to Village' programme and even Prime Minister Narendra Modi had mentioned it in "Mann Ki Baat" event, but the former proved disastrous.
