Judicial officers take stock of facilities available to prisoners

Jammu, Dec 1: In compliance with the directions of Chief Justice Gita Mittal and Justice Rajesh Bindal Chairman SLSA and under the supervision of Ramesh Kumar Wattal, Chairman SLSA (Principal District Judge Jammu), Sandeep Gandotra, Sub Judge, Passenger Tax and Shop Establishment Act Magistrate and City Judge Jammu Prem Sagar Jammu inspected Central Jail Kot Bhalwal, Jammu and District Jail Jammu, to take stock of the basic necessities available to the prisoners including food, safe drinking water, medical care, sanitation, proper clothing, bedding, hygiene in kitchen, toilets and barracks etc.
They interacted with many inmates including the under trials and convicts to listen to their grievances and issued on spot directions to redress genuine concerns of the prisoners. The senior superintendent of the jail was asked to get repaired all the insects killing machines installed near the kitchen and he was also asked to hold regular yoga sessions for the benefit of inmates. The prisoners were also informed of various schemes initiated by the government, NALSA & SLSA for their benefits and for the benefit of their family and children including education, legal aid and maintenance. The prisoners were also asked to take benefit of the PLVs who come to the jail premises and work as a bridge between them and DLSA. During his interaction with the prisoners, they also informed them to take benefit of the Inmate Calling System installed inside the prison to talk to their family members on phone.
