HBET gives scholarships to 500 rural school children

Jammu, Dec 1: A seven-day scholarship carnival was launched today by Harbans Bhalla Educational Trust for 500 students from rural areas. More than 80% of the students are girls from economically weak families. Besides scholarships, the children will also get Free medical and eye checkups. Counseling will be conducted for the students and their parents. The students will also participate in academic tests. New prospective Students from classes 1st to 3rd will also participate in for selection tests for the next academic year. The Chief Guest, Neelam Saini, a prominent Police Officer, Dr. S.P Sharma, an Opthalmologist, Dr. Ashok Chanyal, a Physician and a long time supporters of HBET distributed the scholarships and impressed upon the children that they are getting an opportunity to achieve excellence in their education to carve out a bright future for themselves. He appreciated the efforts of HBET to promote education of girls, particularly those who live in the slums and in the rural areas. He also wished them a bright future ahead. The Managing Trustee said that the scholarships will be distributed to 500 students over the next 7 days. 80+ students will be coming daily for the programme.
