Sarmad reviews arrangements for mega sports event

Jammu, Dec 2: Secretary, Youth Services and Sports, Sarmad Hafeez today chaired a meeting of the senior officers of concerned departments to discuss the arrangements for upcoming 65th National School Games to be hosted by the Jammu and Kashmir from December 9, 2019.
The mega sports event will witness competitions in the discipline of Volley-ball under 17 years Boys and Squay Martial Art under 14 and 17 years Boys/Girls from 9th of December of this month. A large number of students from across the country are expected to take part in the event.
Threadbare discussions were held about the arrangements put in place for the smooth conduct of the National School Games. The Police Department was asked to provide sufficient security at the venues of the event as well as the lodging and boarding centres for players. He further sought adequate security and traffic regulation arrangements at the opening and closing ceremony.
The Director Health was asked to provide medical teams at lodging and boarding centres and at playing venues round the clock, besides to keep an Ambulance available at the playing venues and to reserve 15 beds in the district hospital for the participating players in case of any medical urgency.
He directed the Chief Education Officer to coordinate with the convenor ceremony and the principles of the schools involved.
The Secretary asked the Directors of Doordarshan, All India Radio to take all necessary steps to arrange live coverage of opening ceremony and final match of the events.
The Information Department was asked to invite the electronic and print media to cover the mega event.
The Secretary stressed upon senior officers of all concerned departments to make concrete efforts to make the event a success.
Director General, Youth Services and Sports, Saleem-Ur-Rehman, Joint Director, YSS Kashmir, Bashir Ahmad, SSP Traffic Jammu, Prabh Dayal Sharma, SP Security Jammu, Shaheen Wahid, SP Headquarter, Jammu, Farooq Qaiser, Deputy Director Health, Dr Syed Tasmina Bano, Information Officer, Jahangir Ahmed, Head Coach University of Jammu, Padam Dev Singh attended the meeting.
