Srinagar's vital hospitals get 24X7 AMRIT Pharmacy stores
Now people can get affordable medicine from AMRIT stores: Atal Dulloo

SRINAGAR, Dec 2: Financial Commissioner, Health & Medical Education Department, Atal Dulloo today inaugurated first Affordable Medicines & Reliable Implants for Treatment (AMRIT) Pharmacy in two associated hospitals of Government Medical College, Srinagar.
Financial Commissioner inaugurated the two stores at Bones & Joint Hospital Srinagar and Super Specialty Hospital Srinagar.
Speaking after the inauguration of these stores, Dulloo said that this step is an initiative to provide quality and affordable medicine to the end users. The state government intends to open AMRIT pharmacies across the union territory in almost all the tertiary care institutions.
He informed that the pharmacies offer more than 6000 drugs, implants, Surgical disposables & other consumables at average discounts upto 60% of Maximum Retail Price. These stores are operating under the aegis of Ministry of Health & Family Welfare, Government of India. He said that as on 15th November, 2019 168.94 lakh patients have benefitted from AMRIT pharmacies. He said that the value of drugs dispensed at MRP is Rs.1732.54 Crores and the patients have benefitted with a savings of Rs 885.49 crores thereby reducing the burden of their expenditure on healthcare. "These stores offer medicines, implants, surgical & ophthalmic products & offer uninterrupted services 24x7," he said.
The Financial Commissioner was accompanied by Principal Medical College, Srinagar Prof. (Dr.) Parvaiz Aahmad Shah, State Drugs Controller Lotika Kahjuria & Deputy Drugs Controller Kashmir, Irfana Ahmad besides senior functionaries of HLL Life Care were also present on the occasion.
