Horticulture Department conducts Farmers Awareness Camp

JAMMU, Dec 2: Horticulture Department organized one day farmer's awareness camp at Chack Rakhwalla Fruit Plant Nursery under the scheme MIDH 2019-20.
Chief Horticulture Officer Jammu, S. Sarbjit Singh, Associate Professor SKUAST Jammu Brajesh Kumar, DLSMS (Ento) Sanjeev Kurlupia, Horticulture Development Officer, Satish Kumar Dansal along with senior officers, staff members and a large number of farmers attended the awareness camp.
While addressing the camp, Chief Horticulture Officer S. Sarbjit Singh exhorted on availing incentives on departmental Schemes under CAPEX and CSS. He said that the incentives available on Area Expansion Programme, Creation of water Sources including Dug well/ Deep Bore well, Water Harvesting Tanks, Protected Cultivation, Tools and Implements, Power Tillers, Tractors, Vermi Compost Units, On Farm Handling Units and other components will positively raise the economic status of the farming community. He also emphasised on timely application of fertilisers, irrigation of the fruit plants for fostering the yield.
Associate Professor SKUAST Jammu Barjesh Kumar impressed on the use of Bio-Pesticides for the control of insects/pests/ diseases. He also asked the farmers to spray chemicals keeping in view the threshold level of the insects/pests/ diseases.
Sanjeev Kurlupia elaborated on various insects/pests/ diseases of different fruit crops and explained different ways to control them.
