Early Times Report
UDHAMPUR, Dec 2: With an aim to provide the lodging facility to girl students hailing from far-flung and remotest corners of Chowki-Jandrore area of Block Ghordi in district Udhampur, the foundation stone for a 100-bedded Girls' Hostel building was laid by then MLA Ramnagar in the year 2016 but till date nothing beyond that ritual has been initiated.
The Hostel was proposed to be set up in the premises of Government Higher Secondary School Chowki -Jandrore under RAMSA but construction work for the same is still elusive. Poor girl students from far-off areas have no other option other than to put up in rented accommodations near the school.
Sunita, a student of the school, said that due to the non-availability of Girls' Hostel, the girl students from far-flung areas are worst sufferers particularly in winter season as the school off time is 4 pm and its impossible for them to return back to their respective homes as their residences are situated far off from the school.
She further said that foundation stone for the Girls' Hostel was laid in 2016 but till date no construction started which is ironical.
When contacted, Principal Government Higher Secondary School Chowki-Jandrore, said that he joined the school only five months ago. He admitted that the foundation stone for the proposed Girls' Hostel was laid in 2016 but construction was not taken up till date.
