81st Jr week-long National TT Inter-State inaugurated

Jammu, Dec 2: Jammu and Kashmir Lieutenant Governor's Advisor Farooq Khan on Monday inaugurated the week-long 81st Junior and Youth National Table Tennis Inter-State Championship here at Maulana Azad Stadium.
As many as 800 peddlers from 28 States and Union Territories will be taking part in this mega event including 20 players from th e newly created Union Territory Jammu and Kashmir.
Organising Secretary of the Championship, Ajay Sharma here said, "it is the first big event being hosted here after Jammu and Kashmir became the Union Territory."
"The morale of J&K players is very high and we are very much hopeful that they will come out with flying colours as the participants have worked hard for this competition," said Sharma. The Championship is being held under the aegis of Table Tennis Federation of India.
Table Tennis Coach turned manager Satish Gupta expressed, "J&K players have always been shining in national competitions earlier also and this time as well, we are hopeful of qualifying for the main events."
Around 20 Table Tennis tables will be provided to every district in the J&K UT for giving push to the game official sources said.
"Apart from these 20 tables, J&K State Sports Council will procure more 100 tables for distributing four each to every district of the Union Territory," they added and said that the Department of Youth Services and Sports is also purchasing around 500 TT tables for getting them installed in the schools across the parts of Jammu and Kashmir so that Table Tennis be promoted on a large scale.
Earlier in his address, Khan welcomed the players and asked them to be messengers of peace and harmony to their native places.
The Advisor was accompanied by Finance Commissioner, A K Mehta, Commissioner Secretary Sports Sarmad Hafeez, Secretary State Sports Council, Dr Naseem Choudhary and Director Youth Services and Sports, Saleem-ur-Rehman.
