| PWD (R&B) Poonch shuns responsibility of substandard road work | | Focuses only on inaugurations of new works | |  Rajesh Tandon

Jammu, Dec 5: The Public Works (Road and Building) Department Poonch has been receiving huge criticism from the local people for its poor execution of road work in the district. The local alleged that the execution of blacktopping by the contractors never taken care by the concerned for its specified time period.
Sources told Early Times that Public Works Department Poonch has come into action due to upcoming visit of Commissioner Secretary PWD R&B Khurshid Ahmed in the district where he is scheduled to inaugurate two road works one at Kasaliyan and other at Malty road.
The locals alleged that it has been observed that the district department come into action whenever there is visit of any senior official but in the district while rest of the time it remains in deep slumber to take note of the work.
They further said that at many places the conditions of roads are very poor but the department never fixed the responsibly of the contractors for carrying out substandard work despite the fact that there is clear provision in the rules that contractor has to maintain the road for few years after its execution but same is ignored.
They said that officials come for inauguration but never interact with the people so know their real problems and never try to take view for roads construction. They alleged that there is huge corruption in the department due to which the quality work is never done |
