12/6/2019 9:32:01 PM
Early Times Report
JAMMU, Dec 6: A large number of Kissans from Suchetgarh and R. S. Pura constituencies gathered at the residence of senior Congress leader Chudhary Gharu Ram Former Minister, and Chairman All J&K Kissan Congress and expressed their anguish over the destruction of world renowed Basmati Paddy due to hailstorms and rains resulting into 100% loss of ready produce.
They further stated that the Government had promised to double their input costs of crops but the rates fixed for the purchase of paddy are less than their input cost. They alleged that the Government has not provided any purchase centre in R. S. Pura and no Government authority has visited to estimate the losses for compensation.
While addressing the Kissans, Gharu Ram told them that the present Govt. has failed to fulfil its promises of providing double income to the Farmers who are at the verge of starvation. No assessments of losses have been worked out till now for giving them adequate compensation. He assured them that he will take up the matter with the concern authority for fulfilling the above given demands immediately.
