Illegal occupancy of Kishtwar Municipality shops by influential persons

Jammu, Dec 7: In a case of free for all-- loot and grabbing of government property with nexus of the beneficiaries and successive Executive Officers (EO) of Municipal Committee (MC) Kishtwar wherein the shops constructed by the Municipality Committee Kishtwar within its limits were first occupied by the influential and later sublet them in violation of the set procedure-the Chief Planning Officer Kishtwar on the directions of Deputy Commissioner Kishtwar had ask the Executive Officer Municipal Committee Kishtwar to submit action taken report within two days over the issue of Illegal occupancy of Kishtwar Municipality shops by influential persons.
As per the details available with "Early Times" the elected members of MC Kishtwar approach the office of Deputy Commissioner Kishtwar through the private counsel Mohsin Ahmed Dar requesting for immediate and necessary action against illegal occupancy of Government Shops within the limits of MC Kishtwar by many unauthorized persons and requested for initiating an inquiry under law.
They stated that only two shops were seized by EO MC Kishtwar while the rest are still enjoying unauthorized/illegal benefits under heavy influence of biased power cum position.
They said that with heavy polling percentage in last year MC elections, the people has shown faith on the elected members of MC Kishtwar with the hope to see whole area free from the clutches of influential and even after one year of the formation of the corporation, despite their hard efforts-these influential people continuously taking them for ride and despite repeated attempts of the corporation-they did not handed over the control to MC Kishtwar officials.
They urged upon the administration to take necessary and fruitful action to bring an end to illegal control of the influential persons on propriety of MC Kishtwar.
After going through the contents of the written complaint-Joint Director (P&S) Kishtwar vide letter No. DDCK/Plg/MC/193/FY20/11393-94 Dated 7-12-2019 issued directions to EO Kishtwar Municipality with the directions to submit the compliance report within two days.
It is pertinent to mention that Kishtwar Municipality received pea nuts (Rs.500 to 700) as rent from these illegally occupied shops while at the same time these shops were sublet to various peoples in last over two decades who were paying hefty amount (Rs10000-15000) as rent to the influential persons with active involvement of some of the officials of the Municipal Committee Kishtwar that also need to be probed.
