Early Times Report

Srinagar, Dec 7: In violation of Jammu and Kashmir Regulation of Private Tuition Rules and High Court directions, scores of private coaching centers here in the valley have failed to get the required registration from the government.
Official sources said that Education department had made the registration of coaching centers mandatory in 2013 after an acid attack on a female teacher near a tuition center in Srinagar.
Following the acid attack even the High Court had directed the Education department to register these coaching centers.
"The department had issued an order asking all the private coaching centers to register themselves, However according to sources only few centers are registered with the authorities.. No action has been taken against the unregistered centers owing to callous approach of the department," sources maintained and disclosed department doesn't know the exact figures of private coaching centers in Srinagar and other major towns of the valley.
"Time to time the department had received many complaints from the people in general regarding the nuisance created by these centers and also about these fleecing the students, but department didn't bother to take action against them," they claimed.
Sources said there are hundreds of private coaching centers running in almost every nook and corner of Srinagar and violating the guidelines of education department. "Most private coaching centers in Srinagar district lack required facilities," they claimed.
"Srinagar city has witnessed a mushroom growth of coaching institutions who are looting gullible students without providing proper facilities to them," they disclosed.
The authorities here in school education department said that they don't have the exact figures of coaching centers in the Srinagar district.
However the department is implementing the directions of High Court," they added.
The further added that, if any center is found illegal, the department would take action as per law 404 soldiers now part of JKLIR after one year of training.
