12 km Chitoo road hits blockade due to contractor's apathy

JAMMU, Dec 7: The construction of 12 KM Ungaie Nallah to Chitoo in Padder Sub Division of Kishtwar District has hit the road blockade after contractor withdraw the men and machinery from the under construction road.
As per the details available with "Early Times", the PMGSY has allotted the contract for constriction of 12 KM road up to village Chitoo at the estimated cost of Rs. 12 Cr around two years ago, but according to the locals-the contractor last month without any reason stop the construction work on this road and later withdraw the machinery by shifting it to some other work as a result of which there is apprehension among the local population with regard to further delay in completion of this prestigious roads proposed to provide road connectivity to more than 300 households in this remote area of the Union Territory of Jammu and Kashmir.
Speaking to "Early Times" Sarpanch Tayari Saplesha Devi and Bansi Lal Naib Sarpanch, Panchayat Tyari inform that the contractor only manage to construct 400-500 meters of road in last two added that the pace of construction work was going on at slow.
The said that however in the midst of multifarious activities-this road project was important for the people of this area and was hoping for its early completion-but to their disappointment - the slow pace of construction work take heavy toll on its time bound completion-now withdrawal of men and machinery by the contractor without any reason had diminishes the hopes of its completion in a time bound manner.
The panchayat representatives requested that the road work may kindly got restarted at an earliest to mitigate the sufferings of the people of this backward, downtrodden and poverty stricken area.
They also called upon Additional District Development Commissioner Kishtwar Mohammad Hanief Malik and requested him to take up the matter with the senior officials of PMGSY and the contractor so that the construction work on Chitoo road could be restored.
They also raise the issue of damage of village road constructed by the RDD department at the hands of GREF authorities and urged upon the administration to issue necessary directions to GREF officials with regard to repairment of the said road that provide connectivity to hamlets of Tyari Holla and Tainow as the road is having public importance since same is being used for transportation of food grains and other goods by the people.
The road according to them has got damage at various places due to ongoing construction of Padder Highway that will connect Kishtwar District with neighboring state of Himachal Pradesh.
ADDC Kishtwar also take up the matter with concern officials and directed them to look into the matter beside also seeks explanation from the officials with regard to slow pace of work.
HE assured the Panchayat representatives as well as to the visiting delegation that District Administration is committed for expediting the pace of various developmental projects and further assured them that the issue raised by them will be looked into on top priority.
