Excise Deptt, SMDA flag off anti drug cyclothon to Surinsar

Jammu, Dec 8: Excise Department in collaboration with Surinsar Mansar Development Authority organised a cycle rally to spread awareness about the drug abuse on the theme say "SAY NO TO DRUGS AND YES TO SPORTS".
The cycle rally was flagged off by Amarjeet Singh, Deputy Excise Commissioner (Executive) in the presence of Nagendra Singh Jamwal, CEO SMDA and Ayub CMO Jammu from Sidhra Golf Course to picturesque lake destination of Surinsar.The rally was organised to promote healthy lifestyle among youth and to introduce the younger generation to adventure activities like cycling, trekking, hiking and camping.
The Cycle rally passed through Bajalta, Aitham and Surinsar Mansar Wildlife Sanctuary to culminate at Lake front Park at Surinsar.
Cyclists from Jammu Cyclists led by Balvinder Singh Goldy, JK Randonneur led by Anil Sharma and JK Cycling Federation cyclists led by Om Prakash a veteran Cyclist as well as individual cyclists covered the twenty-five kilometres stretch with gusto. Kamal Singh Oberh who is receipient of Tenzing Norgey award for adventure was also present on the occasion. Hydration points were arranged by the Excise Deptt. at number of places.
The event was also aimed at promoting Surinsar as adventure hub with emphasis on boating, wall climbing, trekking and Cycling. The event was managed by Nipun Tickoo, ETO (South) and Ambika Bali, AD Tourism.
