| Smuggling bid foiled, 13 bovines rescued | | |

Samba, December 9: District Police Samba foiled bovine smuggling bid and rescued 13 bovines in the jurisdiction of P/S Vijaypur.
A Police Party of Police Station Vijaypur headed by SHO Inspector Arjun Chib during checking duty at Main Chowk, Vijaypur signalled to stop a truck bearing Regd. No. JK02AC-4579 which was coming from Jammu side for its way toward Kashmir via Mansar-Udhampur road.
On seeing the Police Party, the driver of the vehicle accelerated the speed and tried to flee away from the spot. However the alert Cops successfully intercepted the vehicle but the driver managed to escape taking advantage of the darkness whereas his associate was nabbed by the Naka party.
The person arrested on the spot has been identified as Mohd. Mushtaq. During checking 13 bovines were found inside the vehicles which were being transported illegally without any permission. All the 13 cattle were rescued and the vehicle used was also seized. A case FIR No. 202/2019 U/S 188/279 IPC, 2/3 PCA Act, 117/119/207 MV Act has been registered at P/S Vijaypur and investigation started.
