Dr Samoon reviews performance of livestock sector under CS schemes

JAMMU, Dec 9: Principal Secretary, Animal & Sheep Husbandry (A&SH) and Fisheries, Dr Asgar Hassan Samoon today chaired a meeting to review performance of centrally sponsored farmers' welfare schemes of A&SH Department, including Poultry Venture Capital Fund (PVCF), Kissan Credit Card (KCC) and Dairy Entrepreneurship Development Scheme (DEDS).
Dr Samoon took comprehensive details from the district officers of Animal and Sheep Husbandry Department about PVCF, KCC and DEDS schemes through a video conferencing. The district officers gave details about the steps taken for sanctioning, disbursing of assistance under the schemes.
He also discussed and reviewed the action taken on the decisions taken in the 110th meeting of State Level Banks Committee (SLBC) and stressed upon the bank representatives and Insurance companies to adhere to the directions given to them at the said meeting.
Dr Samoon said that the subsidy for the Dairy Entrepreneurship Development Schemes has been exhausted and the government would provide additional Rs 10 crore for clearance of pending cases under the scheme.
It was informed that 132 cases have been sponsored under the PVCF scheme by the Animal Husbandry Department, of which 50 cases have been sanctioned and amount disbursed. He said that total 30,321 cases of Kissan Credit Card have been sponsored by Animal and Sheep Husbandry Department of which 6,107 have been disbursed so far.
During the meeting, the district officers of Sheep and Animal Husbandry Department highlighted various issues being faced by them in the process of sanctioning of loans, farm insurance cases.
Director, Sheep Husbandry, Jammu, Sanjeev Kumar, Director, Animal Husbandry Kashmir, Poornima Mittal, Joint Director Farms, Kashmir/Jammu, representatives of President Lead Banks, Insurance Companies and other senior officers of Animal and Sheep Husbandry Department were also present in the meeting.
