Excise Comm imposes huge penalty on tax evaders

Jammu, Dec 20: On the strict instructions of Excise Commissioner, a week long drive was conducted by Excise Officers/Officials of toll post Lakhanpur by laying nakas at Gandyal, Peer Baba, Kote Punnu, Raj Bagh, Nagari, Mandi etc. During the drive, 6 vehicles were apprehended while evading Toll Tax, they include vehicle bearing Registration No.JK17-2828 loaded with 14.50 quintals chicken was apprehended and penalty to the tune of Rs.146080/- was imposed and realized on spot. The other include JK08D-4084, JK02AA-3037, JK08E-2845, JK-08B-0278 and Trolley No. AF all loaded with cement were apprehended and penalty amounting to Rs.214970/- was imposed and realized on spot. The whole operation was conducted under the direct supervision of Sandeep Gupta, Excise & Taxation Officer and carried by Inspector Bilal Kraipak, Sudhir Sharma Dheeraj Kumar, Mohd. Saleem Malik, Sub-Inspectors, Kanwaljeet Shan, Milan Gupta, Ravinder, Subash Chander and Manzoor Chalkoo Excise Guards Rajesh Kumar and Om Dutt, Khadam Hussain, Prince Sharma and Davinder Singh Head Guard. The whole operation was conducted under the overall supervision of Pardeep Singh Manhas, Deputy Excise Commissioner, Toll Post Lakhanpur. The Excise Commissioner, J&K Government M. Raju, IAS while visiting the toll post Lakhanpur appreciated the efforts of the Excise staff in foiling the major bid of toll evasion and enjoined upon them to work with more zeal.
