Sahitya Academy organises symposium cum musical programme

Rajouri, Dec 11: Sahitya Academy New Delhi today organised a symposium cum musical programme at Himalayan Education Mission School Rajouri.
The daylong symposium was inaugurated by the Deputy Commissioner Rajouri, Mohammad Nazir Sheikh who was also the chief guest on the occasion.
The programme was conducted with the support of Dabistan-e-Himala. The programme was attended by a galaxy of intellectuals, writers, poets and lovers of literature including Shabir Rather, Ehtisham Hussain, Akbar Ali, Rubeena Mir, Dr. Shahnawaz and others who presented their ideas on the promotion of local languages.
The programme spread over two segments namely symposium on development of kashmiri language, literature in Peer Panchal Region and the musical presentation (LUKA) by local artists representing Pahari, Gojjri and kashmiri.
An urdu mushaira was also organised on this occasion by J&K Academy of Art,Culture and Language in which poets representing various parts of J&K read their poems and enthralled the audience.
While speaking on the occasion the Deputy Commissioner Rajouri hailed the efforts of Sahitya Academy New Delhi and Dabis-Tan-e Himala for organising such a meaningful and cultural conference at Rajouri.He said that literature binds the people of different regions and faiths together.
He added that the writers and artists are the messengers of love,peace and harmony and the need of the hour is to promote our local language and revive old culture.He sought the active cooperation of the general public in this regard.
Later a Book was also released entitled "Naveed e Qalam",by Rubina Mir at the end of Mushaira.
Deputy Director planning, Bilal Mir, District Culture officer Rajouri Alam Dar, Convener Northern Regional Board Sahitya Academy Dr. Aziz Hajini and Patron Himayalan Education Mission Farooq Muztar were also present on the occasion.
