HCBA strike enters 41st day

Jammu, Dec 11: The indefinite agitation launched by the J&K High Court Bar Association, Jammu, today entered in its 41st day and token hunger strike entered in 6th day.
The advocates /members who sat on token hunger strike were Nitin Sambyal, Rajeev Chargotra, Pardeep Majotra, Sushant Samnotra, Anshu Mahaja, Roshan Choudhary, Nitin Bakshi, Kamal Magotra, Suraj Palathia, Atul Raina & Sunny Sumberia.
The JKHCBAJ, is demanding restoration of powers of registration of documents back to the Judicial Magistrates as was decided by the General House in its meeting held on Ist November 2019.
During the on going agitation, series of meetings took place between the office bearers and senior members of JKHCBAJ with various representatives of Union Territory administration including the Chief Secretary of Union Territory and Financial Commissioner Revenue, who is appointed as Inspector General of Registration as well.
Various proposals were made to JKHCBAJ by the administration, in the process yesterday i.e. on 10th December 2019, KK Sharma Advisor to His Excellency the Lieutenant Governor along with Financial Commissioner, Revenue ( Inspector General of Registration) and other officers of the administration including Inspector General of Police, Dy. Inspector General of Police and other senior officers visited the office of JKHCBAJ and held deliberations with office bearers and many members of the Bar Association,
During the deliberations the Advisor proposed that the officers empowered to undertake registration of documents can be located/ accommodated in one building nearer the Court complex i.e. J.D.A. building where presently Special Tribunal is functioning and operating. The Advisor also proposed that if the circular issued by the (Registrar General) making drafting of documents by the qualified Advocates mandatory, is made available, the same shall also be considered effectively and necessary orders in this regard would be issued. The administration sought some time to make the offices of registering officers functional in the said building.
The office bearers conveyed to the administration that the aforesaid proposal made on behalf of the administration shall be placed before the General House of JKHCBAJ, in as much as the demand of the General House is clear regarding restoration of powers of registration to the Judicial Officers.
