CF demands creation of infrastructure plan for Jammu Tourism

Jammu, Dec 11: Citizen's Forum invited the kind attention of Lt. Governor G C Murmu and secretary/ commissioner Navin Chowdhry to its demands for Jammu Tourism raised since first time Governor's Administration about 25 years back in J8tK. Forum conducted a seminar on Jammu Tourism and former Advisor Ved Marwah was the Chief Guest. Except Road Shows and Mellas nothing came up for Jammu. In entire World Tourist very well knows, two great tourism destinations .SWITZERLAND and KASHMIR. In Kashmir even after spending 90% state tourism budget, could not on an average attract more than 4-5 lakh mixed foreign and local tourist in very good undisturbed times. At present tourist flow has reduced to a few thousands only. Mata Vaishno Devi attract 1.25 crores visitors every year without any Mellas and Road Shows. R K Chadha President Citizen's Forum said, Second time after many years, against our demand, The former Governor Girish Chander Saxena sanctioned Rs.75 lakhs for infrastructure for 8 religious places in Jammu, but then Director Tourism Nehvi spent the money on Mellas and Road shows only. Citizen's Forum request Lt. Governor Murmu and Navin Chowdhary to first prepare a comprehensive Tourism Infrastructure Plan, announce it publically so that people of Jammu UT know what is coming for Jammu. There was a 20 year perspective plan for sustainable tourism development in Jammu and Kashmir prepared by M/S Santek consultancy Pvt. Ltd. Delhi.
