Dulloo reviews performance of hospitals towards meeting NQAS targets

JAMMU, Dec 11: Financial Commissioner, Health and Medical Education Department, Atal Dulloo today issued strict instructions to the Chief Medical Officers (CMOs) to improve the standards of their respective institutions to meet the National Quality Assurance Standards (NQAS), Kayakalp and LaQshya targets.
He was chairing a meeting to review the progress made by the identified health institutions to achieve the NQAS, Kayakalp, LaQshya, Swachh Swasth Sarvatra (SSS), Mera Aspatal targets under National Health Mission.
The meeting was attended by Director Health Services, Jammu, Dr Renu Khajuria; Director Health Services, Kashmir Dr Samir Mattoo; Director (Coordination) New Medical Colleges Jammu, Dr Yashpal Sharma; Joint Director (Planning) H&ME, Madan Lal and other officials of National Health Mission.
The CMOs and Medical Superintendents of the districts participated in the meeting though video conferencing.
The FC directed the officers to gear up efforts to achieve the targets so that all the identified District Hospitals (DHs), Community Health Centres (CHCs) and Public Health Centres (PHCs) in J&K under (NQAS), Kayakalp and LaQshya were nationally certified by March 2020, in recognition of the high quality standards and performance.
He asked the hospital managements of the identified institutes to strive hard to score 70 % at all the three levels of assessment - internal assessment, peer assessment and external assessment - which is mandatory for NQAS certification.
About the patient care services, the FC directed to maintain the quality standards including in time handling of emergency situations, besides maintaining standard operating procedures. He said that achievements of every hospital would be reviewed on regular basis and directed the officers to complete the targets within the set time frame.
A detailed presentation was also given in the meeting and the performance of all the identified DHs, CHCs and PHCs was reviewed.
It was informed in the meeting that 13 health care facilities have been identified under NQAS, Kayakalp and LaQshya.
LaQshya was launched with an objective of reduction in the maternal and new born mortality and improvement in quality of healthcare during the delivery and immediate post-partum care.
The Kayakalp campaign provides for conferring of award for improving cleanliness, hygiene and waste management practices at public health facilities.
