Muzaffar Beigh suddenly falls silent, prefers oblivion over limelight
Has GOI trashed Hill State demand for JK?
12/12/2019 10:58:32 PM
Early Times Report
Jammu, Dec 12: Muzaffar Beigh who, after the Art 370 abrogation was waiting in wings to start a third front has socially fallen silent due to the unknown reasons with speculations rife that the parleys between him and the authorities have ended at a terrible note.
As per the reports, Beigh who last month was quite vocal about the demand for Article 371 and even told media that he is ready to play his role to demand from government of India that Jammu and Kashmir must be given status of a hill state where jobs and lands are protected, has all of sudden fallen silent. Since last month, he hasn't spoken a word, neither has he issued any statement where he has reiterated his demand. "It is ironic to find that Beigh sahib considered as an astute politician has all of sudden virtually surrender the demand of Article 371. This silence could be attributed to his party that must have rebuked him for speaking without the consent of the party president who is under captivity at present," says a leader of a political group based in JK.
According him, it is either Beigh's party that has rebuked him, forcing him to find refuge in silence or it is the government of India that has sent a message to the PDP patron that his plea would find no takes in the corridors of power in New Delhi. "In both cases, Beigh must have been going through a tough time as posing as a messiah at one time and sulking into oblivion on the other is not good for any person's political career," says another senior political leader based in Kashmir.
Earlier, this year, there were speculations earlier rife that Beigh who has been one of the founding members of the PDP will join PC and announce its departure from PDP in which he spent around 19 years since 1999.
Beigh last year in December last year had said that he was sidelined even when PDP and BJP stitched a common ground after the 2014 polls threw a fragmented mandate in the state.
After around three months of deliberations, PDP formed alliance with the BJP and signed agenda of alliance that both the parties termed as a 'guiding principle' of running a coalition government in the state. "I was completely sidelined. On December 28, 2014, Mufti sahib in the presence of Mehbooba Ji had told me to get a document prepared for my preliminary negotiations with BJP. On January 1st, 2015,I was told by Mehbooba Ji that I should stay back and some other person had been chosen to speak to BJP. I don't know why they did so, but yes, I was sidelined, therefore I don't have any knowledge about the terms and conditions of the engagement with BJP," Beigh was quoted as having said in an interview.
Castigating the party's approach over burying its self rule document for Kashmir issue resolution, Beigh had said that the document would now look obsolete.
