Martyrs are pride of nation, sacrifices can never be forgotten: Bhalla

JAMMU, Dec 13: Paying tribute to supreme sacrifice in service of nation by martyr Daljit Singh, his statue was unveiled today at RS Pura main Chowk. The unveiling of the statue was done by former Minister and senior Congress leader Raman Bhalla , Brig NJ Singh, Brig KS Kalsi, Capt Bana Singh PVC in presence of prominent persons of the area. Speaking on the occasion, Bhalla said that Martyrs never die, they become immortal. History records their names in golden letters. Martyr Daljit Singh is one such martyr. He displayed conspicuous bravery and courage and attained martyrdom at village Faizlabad ,Tehsil Surankote Distt Poonch during search operation by STF ,JKP and was awarded 'President Police Medal for Gallantry' posthumously. Since then he has been inspiring youth of entire country and will remain to be a role model for future generations, he added. Paying tribute to the Martyr Bhalla said that his supreme sacrifice in the line of duty has made him immortal. He called upon the people to remember and cherish the valour of Martyr. Our tribute to this brave son will be to encourage our youth to follow his path and join the Army, Air Force and the Navy in various capacities, he said. Bhalla expressed the hope that installation of the statue of a martyr will proved to be a milestone in igniting patriotism in the hearts of students and local populace.
Former Minister further said that if the future generations take inspiration from martyrs that country comes first then comes, personal happiness that would be true tribute to the martyrs.
