PWD, Panchayat Deptt fail to construct bunkers along LoC

Poonch, Dec 13: Public works and Panchayat Department have miserably failed to construct bunkers for the civilians as border skirmishes continues to go on every now and then along Line of Control area in Poonch district sources said here today.
Official data reveals that out of sanctioned 811 bunkers Public Works Department could construct only 500 bunkers which were not fully completed and work on remaining 311 bunkers is yet to be started, they said adding simultaneously out of 557 bunkers Pacnhayat department stucked at 200 while 377 bunkers remained unconstructed for the last over one year.
Sources said shelling and unprovoked firing from across the border continues by Pak army which injures people living close to border and sometimes claims human lives and as well as animals also perish.
The government has ordered in this regard to construct concrete bunkers for the safety of locals and 1368 bunkers were sanctioned to be constructed along the LoC areas. The execution of work was assigned to the Public Works and Panchayat department who fails to meet the deadline inspite clould construct only 700 bunkers while 668 bunkers were yet to be constructed by both the departments. It is pertinent to be mention that those bunkers which were constructed were not completely ready to handover the people because many a works were still pending to make them proper functional they added. People have urged the UT administration of J&K to direct the men at helms to complete the construction of concrete bunkers being made for their safety in all respects.
