Indian Yoga Association organizes seminar on Geriatics

Jammu, Dec 14: Indian Yoga association today organized a seminar cum lecture on Geriatics at auditorium of Bharat Scouts and Guides Jammu.
Dr. Bharat Bhushan MD, Fellow WHO -Ageing Medical Superintendent ESIC MODEL Hospital Jammu who was the first key speaker enlightened the participants about the Geriatics and said that it is estimated that 8-10 percent of India's population is above 60 yrs and growing old is a progressive process associated with decline in functioning that is why Elderly group become more prone to diseases like Heart diseases, respiratory ailments, infections, falls, Tuberculosis, tumors, accidents, poisoning, violence victim, dementia and confusion.
He also added that there is a need to provide easy access to preventive, curative and rehabilitative services to the elderly along with specialized long-term training of health professional to address their growing health needs in the country. Barring some centers like AIIMS, New Delhi, CMCVellore and some corporate sectors, specialized services for the aged or post graduate teachings in geriatrics do not exist on ground .
Anil Swaraj, an electronics engineer and yoga expert gave a detailed understanding of five Pranic Vayus - Prana , Samana , Apana ,Udana and Vayana and how these vayus get impacted in physical body at different organ and system levels of body, which all diseases come with which vayu - Dosha and he also explained the remedial yogic kriyas of different Pranayama , Asanas, Mudra and Bandhas to be done to correct the vayu and the connected diseases.
Chairman IYA J&K, Dr Shreyansh Jain expressed his gratitude to IYA national managementAdv Chander Mohan Sharma, State Coordinator celebration committee of International Yoga Day and Secretary IYA Bansi lal presented vote of Thanks. Others prominent citizens present were- I. D Soni (District Commissioner Bharat Scouts and Guide), Dr Sudershan, Dr P S Pathania, Prabha Slathia, Dr D L Choudhary, Bansi Lal, Arun pachnanada, Ashok Gupta, Raj Guru and a galaxy of numerous others citizen were present
