Govt forms committee for Investors' summit 2020

Jammu, Dec 14: The administration has constituted a 13-member apex committee for hosting Investors' summit 2020.
The committee is headed by Chief Secretary B. V. R. Subrahmanyam.
Other members of the committee include administrative secretaries of various departments; Finance Department, Home Department, Transport Industries and Commerce, Tourism, Hospitality and Protocol, Housing and Urban Development Department, Information Department, General Administration Department and Managing Director J&K Trade Promotion Organisation besides divisional commissioners of Jammu and Kashmir.
According to an order issued by GAD, the committee will be responsible for overall departmental coordination necessary for successful conduct of the Investment summit.
The CII, national partner, E&Y knowledge partner, media partner and event partner will attend the meeting as and when required, the GAD order reads.
The summit was scheduled to take place in October.
However, it was postponed due to shutdown in Valley following abrogation of Article 370 and bifurcation of Jammu and Kashmir into two Union Territories (UTs).
The committee will make necessary administrative arrangements besides ensure resources for the investors' summit including finances.
Moreover, the apex committee can approve the constitution of other committees or sub-committees as may be necessary for planning, executing and conducting of the summit.
"It may also approve sectoral policies of the summit. Also, the committee may approve various activities for the summit including key invitees for inaugural, valedictory, sectoral sessions, nominations for road shows and brand ambassadors for the summit," reads the order issued by secretary to Government (GAD), Farooq Ahmad Lone, on order of Lieunent Governor, GC Murmu. The committee will allocate budget for various activities for fulfilment of codal formalities. It will also periodically review the progress and provide necessary guidance for resolving the bottlenecks, if any.
The committee may monitor preparation of the Memorandum of Understandings, their signing and grounding. It may invite or co-opt any other officer, official or non-official, as necessary.
