GCPF demands payment of arrears

Jammu, Dec 15: General Category Peoples Forum Jammu & Kashmir in a meeting today, has appealed to the Lieutenant Governor Girish Chandra Murmu to take notice of non-payment of pension - arrears w.e.f. 1.01.2016 to 31.03.2018 on account of revision of pension of J.K. Pensioners.
V.K. Sharma, Vice-President of the Forum said that J&K Bank has not paid the arrears to the pensioners till day. It is an unjustifiable step of Jammu Kashmir administration. Sharma said though lot of welfare measures have been taken for the welfare of people but ignoring pensioners. He demanded that JK Finance department should issue new instructions to the JK Bank to pay pension -arrears to the pensioners to reduce their economic problems. He urged upon the government to enhance the medical allowance from Rs. 300/- P.M. to atleast Rs. 2000/-P.M. Bhushan Pargal, Secretary of the Forum, appealed to the Modi Government to remove restrictions imposed on the application of article - 14 of Indian Constitution which provides, equality to all the citizens of India and prohibits the discrimination on the basis of caste, creed, religion and region. He blamed government for promoting discrimination by restricting application of article, 14, 15, 16 to provide benefits of reservation to the affluent and powerful sections, including creamy layers of reserved category and crushing the dreams of educationally and economically backwards among them by keeping them backwards. He demanded government welfare schemes to ameliorate the socio-economic status of the 'poor caste' besides providing 50 percent cut in water and electricity bills like Delhi State.
