Rahul on fire
12/15/2019 10:48:48 PM

Rahul Gandhi seems all set to return with a big bang. It is obvious that Sonia Gandhi has preferred her son over her daughter Priyanka Gandhi and Rahul would once again become the president of All India Congress Committee (AICC).
During the past few days, Rahul Gandhi has stirred big controversies by claiming that "India has become a rape capital of world." He refused to apologize for what he said speaking the truth. While addressing 'Bharat Bachao Rally' in New Delhi, Rahul screamed at the top of his voice that he is Rahul Gandhi and not Rahul Savarkar and he will die but would never apologize. Rahul invoking Veer Savarkar, a veteran freedom fighter from Maharashtra, evoked sharp reactions from BJP and Congress's new ally Shiv Sena. Both the parties lashed out at Rahul for disrespecting Veer Savarkar but Shiv Sena made it clear that Rahul's remarks have got nothing to do with Congress-NCP-Sena alliance in Maharashtra. Rahul triggering one controversy after another is an indication that he has agreed to become the Congress president once again. He had quit as the AICC president after his party had to bite the dust in 2019 Parliamentary Elections. Congress getting decimated in two consecutive General Elections had left Rahul Gandhi disappointed. Many people even within the Congress have started speculating that Rahul may retire from the politics and his sister Priyanka Gandhi Vadra would replace him. Priyanka has already been one step ahead than her brother and after the loss of Congress in 2019 elections, she had emerged as a natural choice for leading the AICC but mother Sonia wants her son to don the mantle of his late father Rajiv Gandhi, who was considered as one of the most dynamic Prime Ministers of the country. But Rahul has failed to match the dynamism of his late father and charm of his sister Priyanka Gandhi. The veteran Congress leaders have openly said that Rahul lacks the qualities of a leader and he needs to be replaced to revive the grand old party of the country. Rahul insulting the women by terming India as rape capital of the world and invoking late Savarkar has hurt the sentiments of the people across the country. It looks like that Rahul by raking up controversies believes that he can remain in news and become relevant. But his unwanted assertions have once again proved that he is an "immature politician" and his elevation as AICC president again could prove to be the last nail in Congress's coffin.
