5-day MOOCs & e-content programme inaugurated at GPGCW Gandhi Nagar

JAMMU, Jan 2: A five-day programme on Massive Open Online Courses (MOOCs) & e-content development in its Edusat Hub was on Wednesday inaugurated here at Govt PG College for Women Gandhi Nagar.The aim of the workshop is to acquaint the teaching faculty of higher education with modern pedagogical skills like online course design and development.
This workshop is being attended by 50 participants from 22 colleges of Jammu province and on the first day of event four sessions on faculty development programme will be held.
On its inaugural day, Secretary Department of Higher Education Talat Pravez Rohella; Director Colleges, Yaseen Ahmed Shah; Head ICT and Project Management unit NIEPA, New Delhi Dr. K Srinivas; Co-ordinator UGC, SWAYAM, Central University of Jammu, Dr. J.N Baliya; Principal Govt PG College for women Gandhi Nagar Jammu, Dr. Ravender Tikoo; Principal GGM Science College Dr. Koushal Samotra and teaching faculty from different colleges were present.
The programme commenced with the welcome address by Dr. Ravender Tikoo, Principal Govt. P.G. College for Women Gandhi Nagar Jammu followed by lighting of lamp by dignitaries and Resource person, Dr. K Srinivas, expert in the field of MOOCs, e-governance and blended online mode teaching.
He threw light on the various aspects of workshop indicating that there will be four sessions per day of 90 minutes each and every session will have four components - Lectures, Demonstration, Discussion and Hand to Hand Practice.
He stressed upon how to design, develop and deliver a course and how to create awareness and convert it into practice for improving classroom teaching.
Secretary Department of Higher Education in his address focused on the various projects of the department.
He reiterated that Department of Higher Education is keen to start e-learning in 2021 under SWAYAM and other such online programmes and will provide class rooms and laboratories with interactive boards to all colleges in the coming year.
The workshop is being co-ordinated by Dr. BD Sehgal and Dr. Anupama Gupta of Govt. P. G. College for Women Gandhi Nagar, Jammu.
