KATHUA, Jan 4: Financial Commissioner, Health & Medical Education Department, Atal Dulloo today set June 2020 deadline for completion of Campus building of Government Medical College Kathua.
He directed the concerned to meet the deadline to ensure that the next session be held in the new building.
He was inspecting the ongoing work of the GMC campus building, where he took a detailed review of each component of the construction, progress achieved so far and stressed on resolving bottlenecks, hampering the execution of the project.
Connectivity of GMC building with National Highway, landscaping, improvement in designs and modifications were also discussed threadbare by the Financial Commissioner. He directed the executing agency to meet the deadline within the prescribed time limit.
At the Associated Hospital of GMC Kathua, the FC Health inspected the wards and directed the Medical Superintendent to meet the shortfalls for providing best medical care to the patients. He also stressed on maintaining sanitation and hygiene in and around the hospital building.
He further exhorted upon the doctors to discourage referrals as the strength of Doctors has been subsequently increased in the District Hospital from 25 in 2019 to more than 140 alongwith significant augmentation in medical infrastructure.
“Now a sufficient number of specialist doctors are available in Kathua so people should repose their faith in them for proper medical treatment,” Duloo said and added that Medical Education in Kathua will also strengthen the overall scenario of the district.
Later, Dulloo also visited the construction of additional 200 bedded building adjacent to the building of Associated Hospital and discussed the addition and alteration in the building with the executing agency.
He directed the Engineering wing to accommodate all the changes and submit the final design so that approval for the same can be sought from the authorities.
He also inaugurated the upgraded Pediatric OPD under ETAT in the Associated Hospital building.
Later, Dulloo had a brief interaction with the students and the HoDs of different faculties about their working at the make shift building of GMC Kathua.
During the visit, the FC Health was accompanied by DC Kathua, O P Bhagat; Principal GMC, Dr. Suleman Choudhary; Director Co-ordination Jammu, Dr. Yashpal Sharma; CMO, Dr. Ashok Choudhary; Executive Engineer PWD, Rajan Gupta; Executive Engineer STD, Sanjeev Abrol; Dy. Director Planning, GMC, Babu Ram Sharma; Medical Superintendent, Dr. Chitra and other concerned officers.
