Early Times Report
Sunderbani, Jan 10: Sub District Hospital (SDH) Sunderbani has been grappling with acute shortage of doctors due to which patients are suffering a lot, particularly the pregnant women who are mostly referred to Jammu for further treatment. Astonishingly, the hospital administration seems least bothered as it has no time to take up the issue with higher authority for being busy in executing 'Kayakalap'- cleanliness drive in the hospital.
Sources told Early Times that the post of general physician doctor has been lying vacant for the last 2-3 month. "Due to absence physician, the health department had made makeshift arrangement by attaching a doctor in the hospital but soon he was transferred to other place. Moreover, there is no dermatologist, paediatrician in the hospital," they said.
They further said that the condition of Gynaecological department is very deplorable here as the only gynaecologist had to attend the OPD, who examined 114 patients in December 2019 out of which 40 delivery cases were referred to Jammu Hospital by the concerned doctor. "Around 9081 OPD was witnessed in the month of December 2019 in SDH Sunderland," they added. They further informed Sunderbani Sub Division has a population over 60,567 (Rural: 56,475 and Urban 4,092) and SDH Sunderbani caters the population of three tehsils Siot, Beri Patan and Sunderbani but the due to shortage of doctors, the patients are at receiving end. The concerned BMO, Manzoor Hussain informed that he had taken up issue with Health Department.
