JAMMU, Jan 10: The Block Development Department (BDO) Kotranka has allegedly been indulged in mismanagement in term of development as it failed to ascertain about the funds released for the construction of a culvert in Panchayat Parodi of teshil Kotranaka in district Rajouri.
Sources told Early Times that the construction of a culvert over a nallah for Panchayat Parodi was sanctioned by the Rural Development Department and for its execution lakhs of rupees were released and building material was also issued but the construction of culvert could not take off, the reason best know to department.
“Around 150 bags of cement, 5 quintals of iron including funds were released for the construction but on ground nothing was done resulting construction material was siphoned off and department didn’t take action,” they alleged.
Not only this, the locals, who were engaged as labourers for crushing stone, were not paid their wages as the work was suspended in its initial stage. “The wages of 14-18 days remained unpaid to the labourers by the department, who utilized their time,” they said.
BDO Kotranka Salam Din, when contacted feigned ignorance of the matter and said that he would inquire about it and will initiate action against the erring officials.
It is pertinent to mention here that earlier the matter was brought into the notice of concerned SDM, who also failed to fix the responsibility of the department.
