PDP high command in dilemma over taking action against Muzaffar Hussain Beigh
1/10/2020 11:20:47 PM

Early times report

Jammu, Jan 10: After revolt by majority of senior party leaders and former MLAs, the ‘left-over’ PDP leadership is finding it difficult to take action against one of party’s founder members Muzaffar Hussain Beigh, who had made a direct attack on party chief Mehbooba Mufti.
Beigh said that the PDP president Mehbooba Mufti’s provocative statement over Article 370 has resulted in downgrading J&K from a state into Union Territory (UT).
Credible sources in the PDP revealed that matter was brought before party high command but leadership could not muster guts to take action against Beigh.
Sources said that a group within party had suggested leadership to expel Beigh from the primary membership of the party but this suggestion was rejected for the time being.
Important to mention here that within hours after some party leaders met visiting foreign diplomats party leadership expelled eight of them but same yardstick was not adopted in the case of Muzaffar Hussain Beigh who had launched a blister attack on Mehbooba Mufti.
Beigh, one of the founders of PDP, was critical of Mehbooba’s arrogant remarks on the issue of Article 370. “That statement was made in my absence. I believe that if the people of Jammu and Kashmir have to live together and if they have to fight for our rights, you will have to talk in a dignified way and with humility. You can’t achieve anything by coercing and intimidating the Prime Minister, Home Minister and NSA,” he said.
