NSS Annual Camp Inaugurated at Govt. College Women Udhampur

JAMMU, Jan 13: The National Service Scheme (NSS) Annual Special Camp was inaugurated at Govt. College for Women Udhampur today under the theme of "Women Empowerment."
Prof. Vishav Raksha, Director Centre for Women Studies, University of Jammu was the chief guest. The inaugural programme formally began with the keynote address by Sanjay Kumar, NSS programme officer, Govt. College for Women Udhampur whereby he unfolded the relevance of such annual special camps. He also cited the modus operandi of different activities planned to be carried out during the camp. Later, speaking on empowerment of women folk Prof. Vishav Raksha highlighted the key points which are instrumental in sensitizing the society for the same.
Being the former Co-ordinator NSS, University of Jammu Prof. Vishav Raksha began by highlighting the elementary meaning and significance of National Service Scheme. She unfolded the theme and exhorted upon the issues which we come across in our life world and at the same time are of paramount importance as far as equity and empowerment of the women is concerned.
She further admitted that be it personal, professional or social decisions women should choose for themselves as an end in themselves and they should not treat themselves vis-à-vis men but an individual in themselves. Having done so will elevate their horizon and ultimately will make them a refined human being.
Earlier, the programme began with the floral welcome of Prof. Vishav Raksha, Director, and Centre for Women Studies.
, University of Jammu and lighting of traditional lamp by chief guest and NSS programme officers, Govt. College for Women Udhampur. Sumita Rao, NSS programme officer proposed the formal vote of thanks and Priyadarshni compared the programme.
