Tawi Trekkers felicitate Shivani Charak

JAMMU, Jan 17: Shivani Charak of Jammu who recently brought laurels to the Union Territory of J&K by winning a Bronze medal in the Asian Youth Climbing Championship, was felicitated by Club Tawi Trekkers J&K at Saigal Hall, Abhinav Theatre, Jammu.
Shivani was profusely garlanded by Chairman of Tawi Trekkers J&K Anil Goswami, former Home Secretary of India, Patron of the Club Rahul Sharma, Chairman, Sprawling Buds ICSE School, Jammu; Co Chairman Zorawar Singh Jamwal, Secretary General, Press Club Jammu; President of the club Ram Khajuria and a host of members of Tawi Trekkers and heads of various educational institutions.
All the dignitaries congratulated Shivani Charak for her great achievement and wished her the best for her future competitions. Cash prize of Rs.11000/- was also presented to her by Rahul Sharma, Patron of the club.
Ajay Deep Singh and Arun Deep Singh ranked No 2 & 3 in the country in the Boys category who also bagged 3 medals including 2 Silver and 1 Bronze in the National Competition held at Bhuvneshwar were also honoured on the occasion. Mridhu Padha, Vice Principal of St. Xavier Senior Secondary School, Barnai, Jammu, a Vice President of the Club presented them cash prizes of Rs.1100/- each.
“Ram Khajuria appreciated Shivani’s passion for climbing as she has excelled at the international level despite infrastructure and financial constraints. It is only her personal grit, determination and hard work that led to her outstanding achievement”, Khajuria said.
He also thanked all the people who have one way or the other, supported Shivani during her journey to the top position, especially the management of Sprawling Buds ICSE School who have provided us the necessary infrastructure and have also been helping the club financially.
Calendar of Activities of Tawi Trekkers J&K for the year 2020 was also released on the occasion by functionaries of the club and heads of various reputed institutions.
Anil Goswami, Chairman and Zorawar Singh Jamwal, Co Chairman of the Club also spoke on the occasion and besides wishing all the best to Shivani for her future endeavors also gave valuable suggestions regarding promotion of adventure activities by Tawi Trekkers J&K.
