EARLY TIMES REPORT

UDHAMPUR, Jan18: The Community Toilet Complex at Tehsil Headquarter Majalta constructed under Swachh Bharat Mision (SBM) in the year 2015-16 is in worst condition due to poor maintenance.
Not only the upkeep of the complex is in poor state but even two of the urinals including one meant for the use of ladies were locked down after completion and are not put for public use thereby failing the very purpose of the infrastructure.
Moreover, there is no proper water supply to these toilets and no one ever comes to clean them.
A visit to the place revealed the startling facts with no water supply ensured fort the Toilet Complex and place is full of filth and dirt as none has ever come there to clean it. “No sweeper has been engaged for cleaning the Toilet Complex made for the public benefit by spending lakhs of rupees out of government exchequer,” reliable sources informed.
Many ladies visiting the tehsil office for different works often have to ease themselves but absence of proper public toilet in the tehsil office Majalta puts them to many problems while the locked room of toilet irks them further.
“This toilet is openly mocking Prime Minister’s nationwide cleanliness movement,” Sunita, a college girl who had come to tehsil office for attestation of some documents said that the authorities should pay some attention towards the maintenance of this vital public infrastructure.
When contacted, Tehsildar Majalta said that he will call you latter as he is busy.
