Anganwari workers, helpers rue official apathy; demand pending dues

Poonch, Jan 10: Anganwari workers and workers and helpers working ICDS projects in Mendhar and Balakote have expressed their grave concern over the non disbursement of dues including monthly salary and arrears for the last couple of months, sources said here today.
Alleging the lackadaisical approach of the authorities the Anganwari workers and helper who wished not to be named told Early Times that they have not been paid salary for the last one year including arrears which were due to them. They said that they were called for meetings only though they are supposed to attend maximum two meetings a month.
They said despite increase in their salary they were being paid on old pattern and their monthly progress report is not being made on line inspite Rs 50 are being charged from them every month they added.
They sought the immediate intervention of higher ups into the matter and release of their salary, arrears etc at earliest same was the scene at Balakote where Anganwari workers and helpers were said to be without salary for the last 7 months. They said that in entire district of the Poonch ICDS project workers have pathetic condition they added. When contacted chief projects officer Poonch, Madan Lal who holds the additional charge of districts project officer, was asked weather he was aware about the condition of Anganwari workers and helpers disconnected the cell phone in poor response.
Mendhar Youth Club chairman adv Nadeem Khan has urged the Director ICDS projects Jammu to release the poor Anganwari workers and helpers salary and pending dues at an earliest.
