ANKIT KESSAR
EARLY TIMES REPORT

NOWSHERA, Jan 18: The majority of Private Schools of Rajouri district have been functioning in violation of norms thereby the children and parents are being cheated at the hand of these commercial education shops, who have been charging exorbitant fee in the name facilities.
Sources told Early Times that the private education institutions operating across Rajouri district have been charging exorbitant school fee but the quality of education being provided by these institutions is not up to the mark as a result students are being betrayed.
They further said that the private schools are running violation of norms. “The schools are functioning in narrow streets where fire tenders can’t enter in case of any fire incident in the schools while many schools are functioning in 4-6 storey buildings, which are constructed in 2-4 marlas of land, which is against the norms as they can be dangerous for the children,” they alleged.
They further alleged that there is no provision for extracurricular activities as the ground are missing in most of the schools which are mediatory. “As per rules play ground is must for the private schools but these directions are not being adhered strictly and these institutions are operating without any check by the concerned department,” they alleged further adding that huge corruption is paid by these private school owners to the concerned departments for taking permissions, NOC etc.
They further said that at many places the schools are constructed near nallahs, which poses threat to the lives children studying in these schools. “It has been observed that there is huge crowd of students when schools are over, who had to pass through these nallah and become threat for them. Meanwhile the same situation in other towns including Sunderbani, Nowshera, Rajouri etc.,” they informed further adding that it is beyond one’s understanding that how concerned departments permit them to operate schools.
Executive Officer Municipal Committee Rajouri, Kasturi Lal in charge informed that he had not received any such complaint from the public that these institutions have been running in violations of the norms.
DPEO Rajouri when contacted said that these schools have been running since long time when rules were not so strict, so it is very difficult to take action against them in present time.
