Visit of Central Ministers mere an eye wash: Jugal Kishore
1/19/2020 9:57:30 PM
EARLY TIMES REPORT

JAMMU, Jan 19: Launching a blistering attack at the series of visits by Union Ministers to the Union Territory (UT) of J&K during next few days, the former minister and senior Congress leader Jugal Kishore Sharma said that sending battery of ministers here was a desperate attempt of the BJP-led central government to hoodwink the common masses. In a statement issued here today, Jugal Kishore Sharma said that the only purpose behind such visits of central ministers was to divert the attention of the people from core issues. "It's a futile exercise. Visit or no visit will not address the real grievances of the people. It is mere an eyewash and has no connection whatsoever to development or welfare of the common man of J&K instead visits of central ministers are only a blatant misuse of official machinery for propagating their repeated lies," said Sharma.
Sharma said that whosoever central minister is visiting J&K as a part of the proposed itinerary is indulging in a brazen display of power and authority while at the same time they are using the occasion as a mere photo opportunity.
"The gross misuse of official machinery by Union Minister Smiriti Irani during her visit to Katra, Painthal and adjoining areas today was one such glaring example. The Minister openly flaunted authoritarianism. One of her programmes was arranged at Spiritual Growth Centre of Shri Mata Vaishno Devi Shrine Board at Katra. How a political function could be held at a place meant for some other purposes? Using Spiritual Growth Centre for furthering the political agenda of BJP by Irani is highly unethical," he said. Sharma said that the people of J&K are already disillusioned with downgrading of the erstwhile state of J&K to UT but instead of giving them some assurance on restoring the statehood, the union ministers with their stage-managed shows are rubbing salt into the wounds of masses.
Senior Congress leader further said that rather than their farcical visits, the BJP leadership should restore the statehood status of J&K as well as other democratic and fundamental rights of the people who are forced to bear the brunt of an authoritarian and dictatorial regime.
