Early Times Report

NOWSHERA, Jan 19: The much important Pulse Polio Immunization campaign to make India Polio free has been defeated by the concerned department in Rajouri district where a very little was done in this regard due to which people could not participate in pulse polio immunization programme.
Sources told Early Times that lakhs of rupees were issued for pulse polio awareness campaign wherein advertisements, banners were to be installed across the district, particularly in rural areas to make people aware so that maximum participation of general public could be achieved.
“Family Welfare Department and National Health Mission collectively had to execute all this campaign to make it a success. Huge funds were released to UT J&K by the central government but the concerned department in Rajouri was seen non-serious for this campaign as very little efforts were made by them just for eyewash,” alleged Yojesh Sharma Sarpach Rajouri, Ramesh Choudahry Nowshera Deeing Kalal.
The locals including Dheeraj Sharma, Om Parkash and Rajesh Kumar also alleged that representatives of departments could not reach at many places particularly in far off areas thereby people remained unaware of this programme. Shockingly, the department concerned didn’t even inform the local media about this campaign which raised several questions on the intentions of the department.
As usual, the Chief Medical Officer Rajouri Sanjeev Puri didn’t pick up phone of ET correspondent for his comment.
Meanwhile, when Director Family Welfare Dr Arun Sharma was contacted informed that he has not received any such complaint but he would look into the matter, and strict action will be taken if some irregularities were found.
