Early Times Report

Reasi, Jan 19: The encroachment of State land has been going on unabated in Tehsil Pouni of Reasi district, where illegal construction are being carried out on this land and concerned Revenue department seems to be unmoved. Sources alleged that two influential persons in Pouni Tehsil have been encroaching upon State land and carrying out construction on it just near local Tawi. “Despite High Court order in 2018 of banning any sort of construction near Tawi and other State land and directed Forest Department and Revenue Department for taking legal action against the encroachers. But the direction of High Court was thrown into wind and illegal construction on State land are continued with the connivance with Revenue Department,” they alleged.
The locals had complaint to the concerned Tehsiildar Pouni in 2017-18 Munshi Ram, who took action against and got stopped construction work but after his transfer, the illegal construction against started.
When ET correspondent contacted present Tehsildar Pouni, he didn’t pick up phone. Moreover when ACR Reasi was contacted, he didn’t pick up phone. The locals appealed to DC Reasi to take action against revenue officials.
